Automotive Journalism & Blogging

It’s no secret that I’m anything less than an automobile fanatic – I even go as far as to claim that I know more about automobiles then the manufacturers that produce them. It’s a sickness really, and I think automotive journalism & blogging will help me cope with it.

I’ve been told by more than a handful of people in my life that I need to be doing something within the auto industry. I would love to combine my skills (web development, nun-chucks, and that water drop sound I can make with my mouth) with cars/trucks and form the most wonderful job evAr, but sadly, I think Jeremy Clarkson & Napoleon Dynamite have most of that market cornered right now. GOSH!

I do however want to do something…anything, but what?

I still own LotDrifter.com, which has been more dormant then a 15 year old geek’s sex life, but how do I get going with it? I’ve heard, “force yourself to write”, but that hasn’t worked. I’ve also heard that setting up an editorial calendar of sorts will work because you can plan out your posts, but what do I write about?

I do dream of articles to write from time to time, and I read my fair share of auto industry blogs, but am I supposed to rehash something that another site has published? I’m not exactly in line to test drive the newest model cars/trucks that haven’t hit dealerships yet, but I do want to get there, I just don’t know HOW to get there.

Basically, I’d love to add “automotive journalism & blogging” to my list of hobbies in my free time, and you never know, maybe one day I’ll end up with status like Jeremy Clarkson and get to sling the worlds most exotic cars around an abandoned air strip. I think I just need someone with some insight or valuable blogging advice to get me jump started.
