100 Day Challenge
I recently decided to pull my head out of my ass and to get serious about my goals. In 2010, I lost 50lbs, but am I completely happy with the results…no. I mean, I am happy that I lost 50 lbs, and I do feel/look better, but I’ve still got a little bit more to go. My goal is to be at 12% or less body fat in 100 days. The 100 day clock started yesterday, and my end day is October 24, 2011. By then, if I stick with my diet and my workout routines provided by Ty @ Team Cane Fitness, and Darin, and my buddy Jason, I should be shredded...
read moreCodeigniter & PHP ActiveRecord
I recently started using PHP ActiveRecord with a CodeIgniter project at work, and I’m absolutely in love with it, especially since it now makes CodeIgniter work just like Ruby on Rails when dealing with models. I had previously started writing my own ORM style model that plugged in to CodeIgniter, but after finding PHP ActiveRecord and then finding a Spark wrapper for PHP ActiveRecord to integrate in to CodeIgniter, I have since abandoned the “base_model” project, and I’ll show you how to integrate these 2 in this...

read moreReview: 2012 Lamborghini Aventador
There has to be some mad scientist (read: “crazy smart person”) out there that has calculated the radar cross section of the new Lamborghini Aventador, because I think we’ve all been wondering what has replaced the F-117 Nighthawk. Apparently Lamborghini just let the cat out of the bag.The latest bull out of Sant’Agata is the new Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4. The Aventador is the successor to the Murcielago, and comes rightfully equipped with a 700 hp V12 mated to a 7-speed Haldex based all wheel drive system that...
read moreGetting to the Gym is the Hardest Part
Working out all the time isn’t easy – especially if you have a schedule like mine – there is always something coming up! In the end though, everyone CAN make time, but most choose to just make crazy excuses about why they can’t make it to the gym. I’ve been making excuses for at least the past few weeks or so (mind you, they have been totally worth it). I’ve slipped off my diet completely, and as of lately, I’ve completely abandoned the gym and the last 2 sessions with my trainer. It’s not like I...
read moreYeah – I rank for “Bedazzled Jeans”
Still uncovering the tactics used by Chuck Reynolds back in the day to get me ranked on Google for the keyword “Bedazzled Jeans”. Well – just found this: http://www.pxdaj.com/detail/link-29505.html Jerks! :-P I still rank 1st page on Google though…too bad my jeans aren’t bedazzled...
read moreAutomotive Journalism & Blogging
It’s no secret that I’m anything less than an automobile fanatic – I even go as far as to claim that I know more about automobiles then the manufacturers that produce them. It’s a sickness really, and I think automotive journalism & blogging will help me cope with it. I’ve been told by more than a handful of people in my life that I need to be doing something within the auto industry. I would love to combine my skills (web development, nun-chucks, and that water drop sound I can make with my mouth) with...

So, it’s been easily 8 weeks now since I started training with Ty, and I’ve got to say, I’m pleased with my results. My second chin that was gone, that came back, is now gone again, and we haven’t done measurements lately, but I think they will be moving in the RIGHT direction when we do them again. There’s a lot of positives that happen when you stick with it, but it’s a lot of hard work that requires quite a bit of self control to be able to stick with it. I figured I’d share a list of some of the...
read moreCommuting via the Light Rail
So – as of about 4 weeks ago, I started working in downtown Phoenix, which opened up the possibility that I could actually take the light rail to work since there is a stop right outside my office…I’d just have to commute to the end of the line in Mesa since I live near Western New Mexico (Gilberto). Today, my BFF Courtney and I decided to take the train in to downtown Phoenix this morning – double bonus points since it is a high pollution day, and we are “encouraged” to use mass transit. Getting to the park...
